tapas/tappss/ :plural noun small Spanish savory dishes, typically served with drinks at a bar.

ORIGIN: The most plausible of the many theories as to the origin of tapas, is that it began in the sherry county of Spain. In the hot and dusty countryside, where flies were always prevalent, small plates or pieces of bread were placed over the patrons glass to keep the dust and flies out as they enjoyed their afternoon sherry. As time passed, more and more things were added to these small plates or breads, to evolve to the legend that is now Tapas.

Here at Vangionis, our tapas are a little more elaborate than just something to keep the flies out of your drinks! But, like all good tapas, they are just simple dishes made with the finest ingredients to be enjoyed with an afternoon drink or combined to make up an array of tasty mouthfuls.
